'Liberation Day in DC': Donald Trump declares he will end violence in US Capital; claims he 'fixed border'

President Donald Trump on Monday said that Washington, DC will be “liberated” from “crime, savagery, filth, and scum, today,” further declaring that he will end the killing or hurting of innocent people in the US Capital.Sharing a series of posts on Truth Social Trump wrote, “LIBERATION DAY IN DC WE ARE TAKING OUR CAPITAL BACK!!!”“Washington, D C will be LIBERATED today! Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are OVER!” he said in another post.Praising his administration’s border policies, Trump claimed: “I quickly fixed the Border (ZERO ILLEGALS in last 3 months!), D C is next!!!”These remarks came ahead of the US President’s 10 am (ET) press conference at the White House on Monday, where he will unveil his “crime and beautification” plan as federal agents intensify patrols in the capital.Trump on Sunday claimed that the event would address not only ending “Crime, Murder, and Death” but also “Cleanliness and the General Physical Renovation and Condition of our once beautiful and well-maintained Capital.”Trump also criticised the Federal Reserve’s $3.1 billion headquarters renovation project, calling it wasteful, saying, “We are not going to allow people to spend $3.1 Billion Dollars on fixing up a building, like the Federal Reserve, which could have been done in a far more elegant and time sensitive manner for $50 to $100 Million Dollars.”“The Renovation would have actually been better, and would have saved Rs 248 crore, Traffic James and never-ending Construction,” he added.Trump’s remarks came after two 15-year-old boys were arrested in Washington, DC, for unarmed carjacking and assaulting former Department of Government Efficiency staffer Edward Coristine, known as “Big Balls.” The incident prompted federal law enforcement to increase street patrols across the city.
