Illegal online betting: Suresh Raina to appear before ED today in money laundering probe

NEW DELHI: Cricketer Suresh Raina will appear for questioning before ED on Wednesday in connection with a money laundering case against illegal online betting. Raina, sources said, has been summoned in connection with 1XBet. More details related to this case were not available.In a crackdown against illegal betting cases related to IPL cricket matches, the ED had last year attached assets of some of the accused worth 337 crore.

One of the cases relates to online platform Fairplay, the directors of which are accused of illegally broadcasting IPL cricket matches and various online betting activities.“The attached assets include demat account holdings, lands, flats and commercial warehouses located at Ajmer (Rajasthan), Kutch (Gujarat), Daman, Thane & Mumbai (Maharashtra) are worth 219.66cr of the online betting app Fairplay and its promoters,” ED said.
