Delhi rains bring chaos: BMW sedan gets stranded on waterlogged road; traffic snarls across NCR - watch

NEW DELHI: A BMW was spotted stranded in knee-deep water in Delhi’s APS Colony on Thursday, as heavy rain lashed the city and the National Capital Region. Torrential showers left streets waterlogged, bringing traffic to a crawl and adding misery for commuters. The incident was captured on video and shared on X by ANI, highlighting the growing impact of Delhi’s monsoon downpour.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the city, warning of more rainfall in the coming hours.During the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on Thursday, Delhi’s primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded 13.1 mm of rainfall, while Aya Nagar logged 57.4 mm, Palam 49.4 mm, Lodhi Road 12 mm, Pragati Maidan 9 mm, and Pusa 5 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The IMD has issued an orange alert, which signals “be prepared,” warning of moderate to heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of the city.The rain disrupted traffic in many areas, including stretches along Ring Road, parts of south Delhi, and several arterial roads connecting central and east Delhi.(With inputs from agencies)
