Air India flight scare: Bengaluru-bound flight aborts landing at Gwalior; succeeds in second try

NEW DELHI: An Air India Express flight carrying 160 passengers from Bengaluru had to abort its first landing attempt at Gwalior airport on Saturday, causing a brief scare, before safely touching down on the second try. The airline confirmed that the flight “conducted a go-around followed by a safe and uneventful landing.” Gwalior airport director A K Goswami told PTI that the failed first landing caused brief panic among passengers. He added that the aircraft later took off for Bengaluru and reached its destination safely. “Technical staff examined the aircraft after landing and found no fault,” Goswami said, noting that a failed first landing is a normal occurrence. An Air India Express spokesperson said in a statement, “Crew are trained to carry out a go-around as a precautionary measure when required.” Some passengers lodged complaints with airport and airline officials after deboarding, another official said, reported PTI.
