KRISHNANAGAR (NADIA): In a chilling incident, a teenage girl was allegedly shot by her boyfriend at point-blank range at her residence in Krishnanagar town between 2 and 2.30 pm on Monday. Sources said she wanted to end the relationship, which is why he killed her and fled. Krishnanagar Police district SP K Amarnath, said, “The two had developed a relationship while she was in school. She left school in 2023. The youth, Debraj Singha, was well-known to her brother, which is why he would come to her home. He stays somewhere near Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in Nadia’s Mohanpur.”The crime took place at the victim’s home opposite Krishnagar Women’s College, in Manikpara under Kotwali police station limits. The victim, Isha Mallik (19), shot twice – once on her head – was rushed to Shaktinagar District Hospital in a bloodied state, where doctors declared her brought dead.Amarnath said: “The body bears two bullet injuries. It has been sent for post-mortem. The accused is absconding, and a manhunt has been launched to trace him.”The horrific incident unfolded in front of Isha’s family. Her mother and younger brother were at home at the time. Her mother said she heard a loud noise and rushed towards the room, only to see a young man fleeing with a firearm. Moments later, she found her daughter lying in a pool of blood.
