Kaly Sene: Middlesbrough sign Senegalese forward from Lausanne

Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Senegalese forward Kaly Sene from Swiss club Lausanne-Sport.

Sene played youth football for Juventus and signed for FC Basel in 2020, being instantly loaned out to Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia.

After returning to Basel, a loan to Super League rivals Grasshoppers saw his career take off, with 10 goals in 25 games in 2021-22, and after move to Belgian sides Anderlecht and OHL fell through he was signed by Lausanne two years ago.

His two seasons with the club have seen him score 19 goals in 71 games as the team finished 10th and then fifth.

“It’s a big challenge for me and I’m very, very happy to be here. I’m not a striker who thinks only about scoring,” Sene told the Boro website., external

“I give my best on the pitch every game and run a lot for my team-mates, not just to attack but also to defend, because that’s also so important.”
