Bhopal: Lawyer booked for molesting, stalking woman in court; 30+ advocates escort her to police

BHOPAL: A lawyer was booked by MP Nagar police on Saturday after allegedly molesting and stalking a 22-year-old woman inside the district court premises. The incident triggered outrage among advocates, who later accompanied the woman to MP Nagar police station to lodge a complaint.According to police, the complainant, a 22-year-old woman and resident of Jehangirabad, came to court at around 10.30am in connection with a case. She was waiting for her advocate, who informed her he would arrive by 12.30pm, when a lawyer approached her. Identifying himself as Aslam Ali, he began asking personal questions such as where she lived, whether she came for a court marriage, and even handed her his visiting card. He then invited her to attend an event with him.When the woman declined and walked inside the court building to avoid him, Ali allegedly followed her and pressured her to step outside to talk. On her refusal, he grabbed her hand and touched her inappropriately. The woman raised an alarm, drawing the attention of nearby advocates. She later informed her lawyer about the incident, after which more than 30 advocates accompanied her to the MP Nagar police station.MP Nagar SHO Jai Hind Sharma said that based on the woman’s complaint, a case was registered against a lawyer named Aslam on charges of molestation and stalking. Police said an investigation is underway.
