Delhi molestation case: Chaitanyananda taken to Sri Sharda Institute, quizzed; access to cameras probed

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police questioned Chaitanyananda Saraswati on Monday in connection with sexual harassment allegations at Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management, following his five-day police custody ordered by the Patiala House Court. The investigation revealed multiple fake visiting cards and electronic devices in his possession, claiming high-profile positions with the United Nations and BRICS.

Police took Saraswati to the institute early Monday morning, interrogating him in the room where he allegedly called female students and questioning him about his access to cameras. Senior officers continued the interrogation after returning him to the police station, according to ANI.

His lawyer, Manish Gandhi, suggested a larger conspiracy involving prominent individuals. “A five-day remand was sought by the police. We also filed certain applications, which the judge granted. In those applications, we were granted daily visits, while the police were granted five days’ custody. There’s a huge conspiracy behind this. The issue is something else. Some very prominent people are involved in this, whose names we will soon disclose,” Gandhi stated.Police recovered three phones, an iPad, and fake visiting cards from Saraswati. The cards falsely identified him as a Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations, a member of the BRICS Joint Commission, and a Special Envoy of India.Saraswati, also known as Partha Sarathy, faces accusations of sexually harassing female students at the institute, which offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Management course under the Economically Weaker Section scholarship. The institute is affiliated with Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri.Delhi Police registered the case on September 23 at Vasant Kunj North Police Station based on a formal complaint.According to the FIR, Saraswati allegedly committed multiple acts of sexual harassment and misconduct. The complaint also noted that Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, had revoked his Powers of Attorney issued in 2008.
