Bihar SIR in numbers: Final list out, how many voters added & deleted; what to do if your name is not on list

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday released the final voter list for Bihar following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The revised list shows a significant increase in electors ahead of the state elections due this year.Voters added and deletedAs of 24 June 2025, Bihar had 7.89 crore electors. During the revision process, a total of 65 lakh electors were removed and the first draft electoral roll published on August 1. It listed 7.24 crore electors. Subsequently, 3.66 lakh ineligible voters were deleted, and 21.53 lakh eligible electors were added through Form 6 applications. The final electoral roll as of September 30 stands at approximately 7.42 crore electors, with Patna alone seeing an increase of 1.63 lakh voters across its 14 Assembly constituencies.

What to do if your name is not on the list Any eligible person who wishes to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll can submit an application up to ten days before the last date for filing nominations for the election. Additionally, if a person is not satisfied with the decision of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) regarding an entry in the final electoral roll, they may file a first appeal with the District Magistrate and a second appeal with the CEO Bihar under Section 24 of the RP Act, 1950. The SIR process involved over 1 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), nearly 3,000 assistant officers, more than 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs), and the participation of all major political parties in Bihar.
