JEE Main 2026: NTA issues advisory to update Aadhaar, UDID, and category certificates ahead of registration; check official notice here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a public notice on September 29, 2025, advising all aspirants of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 to update their official documents before filling out the application form.The JEE Main is the national-level entrance examination for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions. It also serves as the qualifying examination for the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), which is the gateway to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

JEE Main 2026: Exam schedule

According to the notice, the JEE (Main) 2026 will be conducted in two sessions:

  • Session 1 in January 2026
  • Session 2 in April 2026.

The online application form for Session 1 will be made available on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in in October 2025.

JEE Main 2026: Documents to be updated before applying

The NTA has urged students to ensure the following updates before applying:

  1. Aadhaar Card: Details such as name, date of birth (as per Class 10 certificate), photograph, address, and father’s name should be accurate and up to date.
  2. Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card: For candidates under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category, the UDID card should be valid, updated, and renewed as per requirement.
  3. Category Certificate: Candidates applying under reserved categories including Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) must ensure their category certificates are valid and updated.

The agency cautioned that discrepancies in these documents could lead to grievances or rejection of applications at later stages.Candidates have been advised to regularly visit the NTA website nta.ac.in as well as jeemain.nta.nic.in for further updates, instructions, and notices regarding JEE (Main) 2026.Interested candidates can check the official notice here.
