A cheque issued by a government school in Himachal Pradesh has gone viral online after its striking spelling errors left people both amused and concerned. The cheque, dated September 25 and signed by the school principal, was meant for Atter Singh for an amount of 7,616. However, it was rejected by the bank after the section meant to spell out the amount turned into a series of glaring mistakes.Instead of writing “seven,” the issuer penned “saven.” “Thousand” became “Thursday,” while “hundred” was transformed into “harendra.” The final blow came when “sixteen” was replaced with “sixty.”While it remains unconfirmed whether the principal personally filled the cheque, the incident has raised serious questions about administrative oversight, as the official reportedly signed the document without correcting the glaring mistakes. The bizarre incident sparked outrage and ridicule online. “Himachal Pradesh government has been sending teachers on costly foreign trips, expecting fresh ideas to improve schools. Yet in Sirmaur, a cheque signed by Ronhat school principal exposed far more about education than any overseas tour,” one user posted on X. Another quipped, “Fault in autocorrect system of pen!”
