Elon Musk cancels Netflix subscription over Hamish Steele comments: Here's what he said that angered Tesla CEO

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently said he has cancelled his Netflix subscription. The move comes after the streaming platform employed Hamish Steele, a director who allegedly mocked the killing of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk. “Just cancelled my Netflix subscription. If you employ someone who celebrated the murder of Charlie Kirk and makes content that pushes pro-trans content on my kids…..you will NEVER get a dime of my money. It’s as simple as that,” an X (formerly Twitter) user wrote on X. Elon Musk replied to the user writing “same”, confirming the cancellation.

Hamish Steele’s comments that angered Tesla CEO

Hamish Steele is the creator of the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park. He allegedly mocked last month’s assassination of Charlie Kirk, a Trump ally and right wing activist in a post on Bluesky. In the post, Steele referred to Kirk as “nazi”. “Your sympathy for any of the families being slaughtered by your own weapons but a random Nazi gets shot and it’s a public statement,” Steele said, according to viral screenshots of a reply to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s statement on the killing of the conservative commentator.Replying to one such online post, Elon Musk wrote “This is not ok”. In another post, the tech billionaire called Hamish Steele a “groomer”.

Charlie Kirk’s assassination

Charlie Kirk was shot dead in a targeted attack at Utah Valley University last month. Elon Musk, a former ally of Trump then responded to the incident, calling it a “cold-blooded murder”. A couple of X users pointed out that posts on Bluesky are “celebrating the assassination”. The Tesla CEO responded saying “shows what we’re dealing with. Evil people.”
