India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav was in a lighter mood when he was swarmed by fans in Mumbai this month. The 35-year-old, who recently led India to the Asia Cup 2025 title, gave fans and photographers a hearty laugh with a cheeky comment while interacting with them. As he posed for pictures and later sat in his car, Suryakumar came up with a witty remark that left those around him in laughter. “Koi nazdeek rehta toh ghar chordh deta hoon (If someone lives close by, I’ll give them a ride home),” he said. The clip quickly surfaced on social media, drawing attention to the batter’s off-field charm. Suryakumar’s appearance came just days after India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Stadium. Chasing 147, the Men in Blue secured a five-wicket win with two balls to spare, lifting their ninth Asia Cup trophy. Despite India going unbeaten throughout the campaign with seven straight wins, Suryakumar himself had a quiet tournament. Former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth, speaking on his YouTube channel, admitted he was disappointed with the captain’s form. “Suryakumar Yadav let me down. Even as questions linger over his batting, Suryakumar’s leadership has drawn praise for backing youngsters in the side. Abhishek Sharma, who emerged as the Player of the Tournament in the Asia Cup, credited his skipper for showing faith during tough times. He recalled Suryakumar telling him, “You’re such an important player for me that even if you get out for 15 ducks, you will still play the next game. I can give it to you in writing.”
