Afghanistan foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi's visit to Agra cancelled

NEW DELHI: The planned visit of Afghanistan foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to Agra on Sunday has been cancelled, official sources confirmed. Authorities did not specify a reason for the cancellation.Muttaqi was scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal, leaving Delhi around 8 am via the Yamuna Expressway and reaching Shilpgram near the monument’s eastern gate by 11 am. He was expected to be taken around the site in an electric golf cart and spend about an hour and a half before returning to Delhi in the afternoon.Agra district authorities had prepared elaborate security measures for the high-profile visit. “No lapses will be tolerated and security will remain tight throughout his stay,” a senior official said to news agency ANI.The Afghan foreign minister’s visit to India assumes greater significance as it comes at a time when both India and Afghanistan are having frosty relations with Pakistan over a range of issues, including cross-border terrorism.(With agencies inputs)
