India batter Prithvi Shaw offered a glimpse into hisranji trophy mindset ahead of the upcoming domestic season with a reflective post on Instagram, sharing pictures of himself performing prayers and a pooja. His caption read, “Prayers that calm my heart and guide my path”, signaling his focus ahead of a busy and important campaign. Shaw, who moved from Mumbai to Maharashtra earlier, has been included in the state’s 16-member squad for the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, which begins on October 15. Maharashtra will open their campaign against Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram from October 15-18, with Ankeet Bawane appointed as the team’s full-time captain.

The 25-year-old is seeking a fresh start in red-ball cricket after a turbulent period that saw him lose his spot in Mumbai’s lineup. He has already shown strong form, scoring 181 in a warm-up match against his former side, Mumbai, where he shared a 305-run opening partnership with Arshin Kulkarni. A source confirmed to TOI earlier, “Prithvi realized his mistake, and approached Musheer and apologised to him. Prithvi told him that ‘I am like an elder brother to you.’ So all is well between the two.” The incident came during the friendly match against Mumbai, which was streamed live by the Maharashtra Cricket Association. Alongside Shaw, seasoned all-rounder Jalaj Saxena has joined the squad after a long stint with Kerala, where he played a key role in their run to last season’s Ranji Trophy final. Saxena’s experience will bolster Maharashtra’s middle order as they aim for a strong campaign.
