RAIPUR: A COBRA commando was injured in an IED explosion triggered by Maoists in Bastar’s Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Saturday morning. The incident took place in Pujari Kanker area of Usoor region when personnel from the 206th COBRA Battalion were out on an area domination and depth protection duty near a newly established Forward Operating Base (FOB).According to police, the blast occurred when the team was conducting a routine patrol through dense forest terrain. Maoists had planted a pressure IED to target the movement of security forces. COBRA head constable Deepak Doole sustained minor injuries in the explosion. He was immediately rescued and airlifted to a higher medical centre for treatment. Officials confirmed that his condition is now stable and out of danger.Following the blast, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation to trace the Maoists responsible for the explosion. “The injured jawan has been shifted for medical care and is stable. Further combing operations are underway in the region,” police officials said.Forces have intensified patrols and area domination operations in Usoor region, located along the southern axis of Bijapur district, to prevent ambushes and IED attacks aimed at halting developmental works and troop movement.
