‘Left a void’: Argentinian singer Fede Dorcaz shot dead in Mexico City after resisting robbery; suspects flee scene

Argentinian singer and model Fede Dorcaz was shot dead on Thursday in Mexico City’s Ampliación Daniel Garza neighborhood.Dorcaz was shot three times, including once in the neck, the Secretariat of Citizen Security announced. His death occurred days before his scheduled debut on Mexico’s Strictly Come Dancing. He was 29. The singer was returning home from dance rehearsals when two motorcycles intercepted his vehicle and fired multiple shots, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter. Authorities have launched a manhunt for four men who fled the scene on two motorcycles. Television host Javier Ceriani reported that the singer had resisted an attempted robbery of his vehicle near the Daniel Garza neighborhood in Miguel Hidalgo.“Video surveillance cameras in the area are being analysed to identify the likely perpetrators who, according to initial reports, were travelling on two motorcycles,” a spokesperson for the Mexico City secretariat was quoted as saying by the Independent. Dorcaz primarily worked as a model until 2023, when he moved from Spain to Mexico to pursue a singing career.Dorcaz, born Federico Docazberro, lived with his family in Spain from the age of 13 before relocating to Mexico a few years ago.“The HOY family mourns the passing of our friend and colleague, Fede Dorcaz,” producers of “The Stars Dance Today” said in a statement. “We join in the grief of his entire family, his parents, and his girlfriend, Mariana Ávila. Mariana and Fede were one of our planned couples for the new season of Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy. Fede leaves a great void in our team. His memory and his passion will continue to inspire us always. Rest in peace, Fede Dorcaz.”
