BENGALURU: A couple living together in a rented house reportedly died by suicide inside their Kallabalu residence in Anekal. The incident came to light Tuesday morning when a few neighbours, growing suspicious after there was no response from the locked door, alerted the house owner. The deceased are Rakesh Kumar, 23, and Seema Nayak, 25, both from Odisha. According to their friends, the two came to Anekal around three months ago, looking for jobs. While Seema worked as an assistant for a supermarket near her house, Rakesh worked as housekeeping staff for a private firm. The crime scene explained it was Rakesh, who first died by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. “According to forensic science laboratory experts, deaths occurred post-Sunday midnight. We suspect Seema saw Rakesh hanging and tried to loosen the noose in vain. When she realised he was dead, she hanged herself,” an investigating police officer said.A statement from their close friend, Jora Nayak, indicated that Rakesh suspected Seema of having an affair. “Also, Rakesh was addicted to alcohol. Rakesh told me that Seema was transferring money to some other man and that’s why he suspected her. Every day, they would fight with each other over this,” Nayak said.
