Another Sheesh Mahal? BJP claims Arvind Kejriwal has 'luxurious 7-star mansion' in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: The BJP has launched a fresh attack on Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that former Delhi chief minister is using Punjab government’s resources for personal luxury. In a post on X, the Delhi BJP accused Kejriwal of preparing a “luxurious 7-star, two-acre government bungalow” in Chandigarh’s Sector 2 for himself, reportedly from the Punjab chief minister’s quota.Dubbing Kejriwal as Punjab’s “Super CM”, the BJP said that the AAP chief, who pretends to be a “common man,” has built yet another grand Sheeshmahal. “After vacating the Sheeshmahal in Delhi, Punjab’s “Super CM” Arvind Kejriwal has now had an even more magnificent Sheeshmahal prepared in Punjab. In Chandigarh’s Sector 2, Arvind Kejriwal has been allotted a luxurious 7-star government bungalow spread over 2 acres from the chief minister’s quota,” the BJP posted on X while sharing the satellite image of the said bungalow.

Not just the BJP, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal too shared the image saying that apart from the bungalow, Kejriwal also used a government aircraft for travel.Kejriwal, who served nearly a decade as Delhi’s chief minister, has already faced criticism from the BJP over alleged extravagant renovations at his official residence at 6 Flagstaff Road, which the opposition dubbed the “Sheeshmahal.”The Delhi BJP unit had earlier released a video showing the interiors of the Flagstaff Road bungalow—featuring a gym, sauna room, and high-end fittings—alleging that crores of rupees in taxpayer money were spent on renovations. BJP’s Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of hiding the “seven-star resort-like residence” while portraying himself as a common man.In response, the AAP defended its leader, asserting that the BJP was attempting to divert attention from Delhi’s deteriorating law and order situation by repeatedly raising the issue of the former chief minister’s residence.Kejriwal vacated the Flagstaff Road bungalow after resigning from office earlier this year. He later moved to his party’s MP accommodation on Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens’ Delhi. His successor, Atishi, reportedly considered shifting to the Flagstaff Road residence but did not move in after the Public Works Department (PWD) stated that an inventory of the property was still pending.
