Madhya Pradesh: Mother kills infant son in Bhind; attacks husband over suspected infidelity

BHOPAL: A 20-year-old woman allegedly strangled her 28-day-old son to death in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh late Saturday night and attacked her husband when he tried to stop her. Police have arrested the woman and registered a case of murder.The incident took place in Ward No 14 of Malanpur. According to police, the accused woman had been quarrelling frequently with her husband in recent days, accusing him of infidelity. On Saturday night, during another argument, she reportedly lost control and killed the infant. When her husband tried to intervene, she assaulted him, leaving him injured.The woman’s husband, a 21-year-old daily wage worker from Lalitpur district in Uttar Pradesh, had been living in Bhind for work. The couple had a court marriage earlier this year. Family members said that while things were initially normal, her behaviour had become erratic in recent weeks, and she would often accuse her husband of being unfaithful.After receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the newborn’s body to the Community Health Centre, Gohad, for post-mortem. The body was later handed over to the family for last rites.Police have arrested the woman and charged her for murder. Preliminary investigation suggests the incident was from domestic discord and suspicion. Further investigation is underway.
