Watch: Delhi man opens door, indoor AQI jumps from 97 to 500 in seconds- viral video

NEW DELHI: As Delhi’s air quality dipped to alarming levels again, a viral post on X has captured the extent of the city’s worsening pollution. Kapil Dhama, an entrepreneur, shared a short clip showing his home’s air quality monitor reading 97 AQI while all doors were closed and four air purifiers ran non-stop. But the moment he opened the main door, the reading spiked to over 500.Four purifiers running 24×7 at home. Reading while all doors are closed – 100. Just opened the main door and touched – 500. Life has become hell in NCR, and the government is busy with the Bihar campaign,” he wrote. His post, shared on November 1, has crossed 1.3 million views.According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index stood at 386 (‘very poor’) on Sunday morning, rising from 303 a day earlier. Weak northwesterly winds blowing below 8 kmph have prevented pollutants from dispersing. At least 17 monitoring stations reported ‘severe’ air quality, with Wazirpur recording the highest level at 439, while 20 others fell in the ‘very poor’ category. An AQI between 0–50 is ‘good’, 51–100 ‘satisfactory’, 101–200 ‘moderate’, 201–300 ‘poor’, 301–400 ‘very poor’, and 401–500 is considered ‘severe’, a range that Delhi residents are now battling.
