KULLU: A 37-year-old man who was allegedly stalking and attempting to kidnap a minor girl in Sundernagar town of Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district was beaten up by the mob outside the girl’s house and dragged to the nearby police station, on Wednesday evening.The accused, who is married and belongs to a minority community, reached outside the house of the 14-year-old girl while following her in his SUV on Wednesday evening, said a police officer.The parents of the girl came out of the house, and as they started questioning him, a crowd of locals gathered and began beating him up. The mob blackened his face and dragged him to the nearby police station. The mob again attacked the accused inside the police station, even as his relatives arrived upon hearing about the incident. Both sides engaged in a heated argument, and fearing a scuffle, the police closed the gates of the police station.Sundernagar deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Bharat Bhushan said the police took the accused into custody and registered a case under various sections of the Pocso Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the complaint of the girl’s father.The DSP added that a cross FIR was also registered on the complaint of the accused.
