'Technical glitch': All flight movement in Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport delayed; at least 5 planes on hold

Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Saturday reported a technical glitch leading to the delay of all flight movements with at least five plane journeys being put on hold, ANI reported citing an official.“Problem has been reported in the airfield lighting system of the runway. At least five flights are on hold as of now. All arrival and departure flights, domestic and international, have been delayed. The problem was detected at 5.30pm (Local Time),” the news agency quoted Renji Sherpa, spokesperson for the TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport) saying.This comes a day after technical glitches at Delhi airport led to the delay of over 800 flights.A technical glitch in the automatic message switching system (AMSS), which handles flight planning for air traffic control, persisted for over 15 hours from around 5.45am on Friday before the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced around 9pm that the issue had been resolved.Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), with its four runways, manages over 1,500 flight operations each day.
