Delhi car crash: Mercedes G63 hits 3 near Vasant Kunj's Ambience mall; one dead, driver detained

NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old man has died and two others were injured after a Mercedes G63 crashed into them near Ambience Mall in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj on Sunday.The incident occurred at around 2.33am when the SUV, travelling from the Chhatarpur side, lost control at a road diversion and hit three men who were waiting at an auto stand.All three worked at a restaurant in Ambience Mall.The deceased, Rohit, from Chamoli in Uttarakhand, was declared dead on arrival at hospital. The other two victims, aged 35 and 23, are undergoing treatment.“When the team reached the spot, they found the Mercedes G63 in a mangled state opposite the mall,” said DCP (Southwest) Amit Goel.The driver, Shivam, 29, a resident of Karol Bagh, has been arrested. Police said he was returning from a wedding with his wife and elder brother at the time of the crash. The vehicle is registered in the name of his friend, Abhishek.“Initial investigation suggests the driver lost balance after a road diversion before the vehicle swerved towards the auto stand,” an officer added.Police are continuing their probe and have initiated legal proceedings.
