Punjab shocker: Gang war at wedding leaves 2 guests dead, 1 injured

LUDHIANA: Two wedding guests including a woman died of gunshots, while one person got injured, as two notorious criminals gangs indulged in violent clash at a wedding function organised at a resort on Pakhowal road on Saturday night.According to the information, the wedding of a city based contractor’s niece was organised in which VIP guests were also invited including some MLAs. It is said that the accused who have multiple FIRs on them were also invested at the wedding who indulged in a spat, followed by firing by the criminals at each other. During the firing incident a woman named Neeru Chhabra and a man Vasu Chopra died of gunshot injuries, besides, another man got injured who could not be identified yet. The Sadar police on the statements of ASI Sukhwinder Singh, registered a case against the accused identified as Ankur, Jasveer Singh, Rubal Pardhan, Jatinder Kumar Dawar, Shubham Mota, Yuvraj Singh and their 12 unidentified accomplices. The FIR has been lodged under charges of murder, attempt to murder, rioting etc. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP- South) Harjinder Singh said, “Firing between two notorious criminals and their associates, led to the death of two persons in the wedding. The injured one has been admitted to the hospital. It is yet to be ascertained what triggered the violence, however they have past criminal record. Earlier also the gangs had attacked each other. The probe is on.”
