NEW DELHI: It was a day of hectic parleys among top BJP netas, including PM Narendra Modi, at his Parliament office amid an impending decision on the next party president and growing speculation over political equations in Jharkhand.Home minister Amit Shah, accompanied by BJP president J P Nadda and party general secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh, met the PM for more than an hour. The presence of Santhosh was seen as an indication that the party brass may announce Nadda’s replacement anytime; however, this was not confirmed by party netas, who chose to remain tight-lipped over the meeting’s agenda. The three netas went to meet the PM after they met briefly at the home minister’s Parliament office.Although party insiders could not delve into details of the meeting, they agreed that there are indications about announcement of the new party president anytime soon, even as a decision on party’s state president in Uttar Pradesh remains pending.Sources also linked the meetings to speculation over a political shake-up in Jharkhand amid “strained” ties among alliance partners JMM, RJD and Congress, and chief minister Hemant Soren’s Delhi visits.
