Prasar Bharati chairperson quits abruptly

NEW DELHI: Navneet Kumar Sehgal, a retired 1988-batch IAS officer of the UP cadre, has resigned as chairperson of Prasar Bharati, just under two years after taking charge. Sehgal was appointed to the post on March 16, 2024, following his superannuation as the UP additional chief secretary last year.Officials in the know said the ministry of information and broadcasting has accepted his resignation. However, neither the ministry nor Sehgal has issued any statement on the circumstances leading to the decision.With no official word yet on the reasons behind his sudden exit, clarity on the course of action at Prasar Bharati is awaited, and officials said some more developments were likely in the next few days.
