'Couldn’t attend staff member’s wedding': Singapore high commissioner’s flight cancelled; caught in IndiGo chaos

NEW DELHI: Singapore’s high commissioner to India, Simon Wong, is among tens of thousands of passengers stranded due to IndiGo flight cancellations. Wong’s flight to Deoghar, where he was supposed to attend his staff member’s wedding, was cancelled. The high commissioner apologised to his staff member, saying he was “lost for words” and used a face-palm emoji in his tweet.

He wrote: “I joined the tens of thousands of passengers stranded by Indigo. My flight to Deoghar has been cancelled. My sincere apologies to my young staff waiting for me to attend his shaadi. Lost for words.”IndiGo’s operational problems have entered a fourth straight day, causing chaos at airports across India. Passengers are reporting long waits, vacant counters, lost luggage, and a lack of food and water. The airline has apologised, saying the disruptions are caused by “unforeseen operational challenges,” including technical issues, weather interruptions, and revised crew duty rules (FDTL norms).Meanwhile, the ministry of civil aviation has issued directives to stabilise operations. It expects IndiGo’s flight schedules to normalise by Monday.
