Elon Musk has just confirmed that the dinner that had the internet buzzing recently. In a post on microblogging platform X (formerly known asTwitter), Musk shared a photo from a Saturday (January 3) evening event at Mar-a-Lago in Florida where the tech billionaire can be seen dining with Trump and first lady Melania Trump. “Had a lovely dinner last night with @POTUS and @FLOTUS. 2026 is going to be amazing!,” he captioned the post. In January last year after Trump’s win, Musk became a close ally, advising on the government efficiency effort and set up DOGE – a task force focused on reducing federal spending and streamlining operations. According to Reuters, he was one of the Republican Party’s biggest political donors, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to the 2024 election campaign. However, tensions grew later in the year when Musk publicly criticized Trump-backed spending proposals, particularly the One Big Beautiful Bill, raising concerns about the size of federal outlays. Sharing a post on June 3, Musk wrote on X: “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it”. Trump replied back saying he was “very disappointed” in Elon Musk’s criticism of his bill adding, “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore.”Things escalated when the Tesla CEO hit back saying “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.”

When Elon Musk formed a new party

The feud grew to a point when Musk accused Trump of being one of the names in the still-sealed Epstein files. Sharing a post on X, Musk said “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”.Trump responded sharing a post on social media writing “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.”Later, Musk formed a new political party. In July 2025, he announced the launch of a new political party in the United States called the America Party, claiming it represents 80% of the US population.
