Can't allow dogs to roam inside hospital wards: Supreme Court

NEW DELHI: With dog lovers pressing for a stay on SC’s order to remove strays from public institutions such as hospitals, schools and colleges, the court asked them Thursday to go through a Dec 29 TOI report on the menace of strays in Ladakh and made it clear that dogs cannot be allowed to roam around in hospital wards, reports Amit Anand Choudhary. At the end of the day’s hearing, during which 10 senior lawyers – nine appearing for animal rights activists and one for RWAs – argued the case, Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and N V Anjaria referred to the TOI report ‘On the roof of the world, feral dogs hunt down Ladakh’s rare species’, and asked lawyers to read it to get a sense of the menace and respond on Friday.
