Congress: Will move court for their disqualification

MUMBAI: Congress said it will initiate legal action to seek disqualification of 12 councillors in Ambernath who have joined BJP. It accused BJP of adopting “double standards” and aligning with members of an ideologically opposed outfit to grab power. AICC secretary and Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said there are legalities attached to the process, and the party is to serve each councillor who defected a show-cause notice. “They defected before any action was communicated to each of them. So, the party will ask for cancellation of their membership to the council,” said Sawant. State Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal said BJP hurriedly inducted defecting councillors who tried to form a Congress-BJP bloc.
