Shah to launch digital platform for storing IED-related data

NEW DELHI: Union minister Amit Shah will on Friday inaugurate National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) – a platform for storing, collating and disseminating improvised explosive device-related data for use in post-blast investigations and analytics – at NSG Garrison in Manesar near Gurugram. “NIDMS is a secure, national-level digital platform developed by NSG’s National Bomb Data Centre for systematic collection, collation and dissemination of IED-related data, supporting post-blast investigations and a common data-driven understanding among state police, CAPFs and central agencies,” according to an NSG spokesperson. Shah will address the inauguration ceremony in virtual mode. A short film on functioning of NIDMS will be screened at the event. NIDMS is expected to enhance coordination among agencies by providing a centralised database of IED incidents, trends and technical details, improving preparedness and response capabilities.
