SURAT: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by eight persons including a minor in a village, some 20 km from Vansda town of Navsari district.The accused are aged between 16 and 21 years and all were arrested by the Navsari Local Crime Branch (LCB) on Thursday. They lived in the villages close to the survivor’s village.

Three of the accused allegedly abducted the girl when she went out of her house to answer nature’s call and took her to a village three km away. Five others reached there in a car and took her to a room adjacent to a water tank.The complaint states that the accused demanded physical relationship but when she refused, one of them assaulted and raped her. Thereafter, all others took turns to rape her while some of them pinned her down by holding her hands and legs.On Wednesday, the family went to sleep around 8pm. When her father woke up at around 10:30pm, he noticed she wasn’t in the bed. The family tried to locate her in the village or neighbourhood but she wasn’t found anywhere.In the early hours of Thursday, they found the girl inside the family’s four-wheeler parked outside their home. When her parents enquired about her whereabouts during the night, she revealed about the gangrape and that she walked down to her house after all the assailants fled.“Out of fear, she did not knock the door and slept off in her father’s van,” said deputy superintendent of police (Chikhli Division) BV Gohil“All accused are known to the victim and her family. We got the girl’s medical examination done and her counselling will be done soon. We will also get the accused medical check-up done,” Gohil added.The accused were booked under sections of BNS and Pocso.
