'No one dictates what we do': Cuba claps back after Trump's oil threat; denies US narrative on economic hardships

Cuban President Miguel Díaz, in a striking response to US President Donald Trump‘s oil threats, rejected the pressure, stating that Cuba is a sovereign nation and that “no one can dictate what to do.” In a post on X, Díaz wrote that the US has been aggressing against Cuba for 66 years, but Cuba is prepared to defend.“Cuba is a free, independent, and sovereign nation. No one dictates what we do. Cuba does not aggress; it is aggressed upon by the USA for 66 years, and it does not threaten; it prepares, ready to defend the Homeland to the last drop of blood,” he wrote. In his clap back, he asserted that the US is blaming the revolution for the hardships the nation is going through and “should hold their tongues out of shame.”“Those who blame the Revolution for the severe economic shortages we suffer should hold their tongues out of shame. For they know it and admit as much—that these are the fruits of the draconian measures of extreme strangulation that the United States has been imposing on us for six decades and now threatens to surpass.”“They’ve no moral authority to point the finger at Cuba over anything, absolutely anything, those who turn everything into a business, even human lives,” he further added, “Those who today drain themselves in hysterical rants against our nation do so sick with rage over this people’s sovereign decision to choose its political model.”His statement comes in response to Trump’s threat to cut off the oil supply to Cuba and that Havana should “strike a deal” with the US without any delays.“THERE WILL BE NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA – ZERO! I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE,” Trump wrote.
