YouTuber WhistlinDiesel faces another tax arrest after previous 2025 case

Popular YouTuber Cody Detwiler, better known online as WhistlinDiesel, has been arrested again for tax-related issues, claiming he owes $30,000. This follows his previous arrest in November 2025 for tax evasion. The Tennessee-based vehicle and stunt content creator was booked in Williamson County during his first arrest and released on a $2 million bond after spending only a few hours in custody. On January 25, 2026, Detwiler was taken into custody again shortly after returning to the U.S. from a trip abroad. This time, he was released after just 50 minutes. The internet personality appeared smiling in his mugshot and explained that he had never received official notice of the tax debt. He said the issue relates to a vehicle registered in Montana that was later destroyed in another state.

WhistlinDiesel arrested again over $30,000 tax dispute

Detwiler claims the legal confusion stems from the vehicle registration, which led to a three-year-long tax case without any prior notice. “They did not give me any notice or any opportunity to pay any tax,” he posted on social media. Despite this, he assured fans that he has “always paid all of [his] taxes.”This is not WhistlinDiesel’s first run-in with the law. In 2022, he faced misdemeanor charges related to a stunt involving a jetski on a local lake, which could have led to up to a year in jail. Fans of the YouTuber have followed his legal troubles closely, with many discussing the unusual circumstances surrounding his tax cases. While the latest arrest lasted only a short time, it highlights ongoing questions about tax enforcement and communication, especially for internet personalities who own multiple vehicles and travel frequently. Detwiler’s transparency about the situation has sparked discussion online, with some sympathizing and others criticizing the handling of tax notices.WhistlinDiesel’s case demonstrates how legal issues can follow creators even after a previous arrest. Despite the legal attention, he continues to produce content and maintain a presence on social media. The YouTuber’s followers will likely continue to watch closely for updates on his tax situation and any further interactions with authorities.
