NEW DELHI: Security forces launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba on Saturday after a suspected Pakistani drone was sighted along the International Border (IB) in the district, officials said. The drone was seen hovering briefly over Indian territory near Chillyari village before returning towards Pakistan after about two minutes.Following the sighting, police and security forces conducted extensive searches in areas along the IB to rule out any possible airdropping of weapons or narcotics.A similar incident was reported on Friday, when another suspected Pakistani drone briefly hovered over Indian territory near Ratanpur village in the Ramgarh sector of Samba. The sightings come amid continuing tensions between India and Pakistan following a four-day conflict last May, during which both sides extensively deployed drones.Islamabad has repeatedly used drones to drop weapons and narcotics in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, both of which share a border with Pakistan.(With PTI inputs)
