The Golden State Warriors made a significant roster move with the Atlanta Hawks, bringing in Kristaps Porzingis while parting ways with Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield. Kristaps Porzingis lands in Golden State as reunion with Al Horford rekindles championship run

ESPN reporter Shams Charania explained that the Warriors have been eyeing on Kristaps Porzingis for over a few months now and believes his presence can be impactful if he remains healthy. Kristaps Porzingis now reunites with Al Horford, his former Celtics teammate, where the two won an NBA championship together. The Boston Celtics had moved over Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks in June 2025. Golden State Warriors end Giannis trade talks, pivoting to new direction

For several weeks, there were also growing reports that the Warriors were trying to trade Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the Warriors had serious discussions with the Bucks regarding Antetokounmpo, who is a two-time MVP, they have come to the conclusion that the Bucks were not ready to trade their star player. As a result, the Warriors have officially ended their pursuit of acquiring Antetokounmpo and are focused on more realistic options. The Porzingis trade also suggests that Draymond Green is likely to remain with the Warriors, as Green had previously been linked to possible Giannis-related trade rumors, but with Golden State moving in a different direction, those talks appear to be over. Overall, the Warriors’ recent moves show that instead of chasing a blockbuster trade, the team has chosen to reshape its roster.
