Kuwait has announced revised working hours for government employees during the holy month of Ramadan, introducing shorter daily schedules and flexible start times under a new framework approved by the Civil Service Commission. The move is intended to ensure continuity in public services while accommodating the needs of employees during the fasting month. In a statement issued today, the commission confirmed that all government employees will work 4 and a half hours per day throughout Ramadan. The decision has been issued under External Decision No. (1) of 2024 and applies uniformly across all government agencies.Under the revised system, employees will be allowed to start their workday at any time between 8:30 am and 10:30 am, introducing an official flexitime arrangement for the duration of Ramadan. The commission said the flexibility is designed to align working hours with the specific conditions of the holy month, while also supporting efficiency and employee well-being.The statement clarified that the decision includes all required timings, rules and operational provisions, which must be implemented consistently across government departments. Authorities stressed that adherence to these guidelines is essential to maintain a balanced workflow that respects the spiritual significance of Ramadan without disrupting official operations. The Civil Service Commission also noted that the framework will be applied annually during Ramadan, reinforcing its commitment to a responsive and adaptable working environment for government employees across Kuwait.
