Woman detained for abusing Greater Noida condo residents over walking pet dog

GHAZIABAD: A woman was detained by police on Wednesday after a dispute over walking a pet dog in a residential society in Greater Noida escalated into alleged verbal abuse and sparked widespread outrage among residents. The incident took place at Amrapali Golf Homes and Kingswood Society, near a parking area close to one of the towers. According to residents, the woman, who lives in A Block, had taken her pet dog for a walk on Tuesday night. During the walk, the dog allegedly defecated in a common area near the parking zone. Residents said they objected and asked the woman not to allow her pet to relieve itself in shared spaces, pointing out that the society has designated areas for pets. What began as a verbal exchange soon turned into a heated altercation, they alleged. Several residents claimed they tried to raise the issue calmly, stressing the need to keep common areas clean. However, they accused the dog owner of reacting aggressively and using obscene and abusive language, drawing the attention of others in the vicinity. The confrontation reportedly occurred near the basement (minus one) parking area of Tower J. A video of the incident, which was widely circulated on social media, shows a woman and a man requesting the pet owner to avoid letting the dog defecate in public areas. In the footage, the dog owner is seen holding her pet and shouting abuses at fellow residents. Following the circulation of the video, residents submitted a formal complaint to the local police. Taking cognisance of the matter, Bisrakh police detained the woman for questioning on Wednesday. Confirming the action, a police officer said the dispute stemmed from a pet-related issue and that the viral video showed the alleged use of abusive language. “The woman has been detained for questioning. Appropriate legal action will be taken after examining the complaint and the evidence,” the officer said.
