Rs 10-crore Lamborghini, ‘seizure’ claim, no arrest: Crash by tobacco baron KK Mishra’s son triggers storm in Kanpur; SHO removed
Kanpur tobacco tycoon’s son, Shivam Mishra, faces an FIR and a cop’s shunting after his Lamborghini crashed, injuring three and damaging vehicles

KANPUR: A cop has been shunted and an FIR registered against Shivam Mishra (35), Kanpur tobacco tycoon KK Mishra’s son who was allegedly driving a Lamborghini that spun out of control on Sunday, leaving at least three people injured and several vehicles damaged.Shivam will undergo tests to determine if he has epilepsy or any other condition that might have caused the crash. His family claimed he had a seizure while driving the car costing over Rs 10 crore. Area SHO Santosh Gaur has been removed. No arrests have been made yet in connection with the accident, which has intensified scrutiny on Mishra, whose firm Banshidhar Exports has been under the tax scanner and his family under glare for their lavish lifestyle. The Kanpur-based tobacco firm supplies raw materials to leading gutkha makers. Shivam is known for his love of luxury cars, with a collection that includes Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and McLaren. As the crash has fuelled outrage over perceived elite impunity involving luxury cars and reckless driving, UP deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya vowed strict action.“If someone has committed this accident intentionally, action will be taken. Police will do their job,” Maurya said.Kanpur police commissioner Raghubir Lal said that the FIR against Shivam has been filed under BNS sections 281, 125, and 324 (4). These relate to reckless driving, negligence and endangering life. The Lamborghini, bearing a Delhi number, first collided with an autorickshaw, then reportedly accelerated further, lost control and hit a parked motorcycle. “The high-end vehicle is in police custody. All aspects are being investigated and no bias will be shown. If anyone has attempted to hide facts or mislead, strong legal action will be taken,” Lal said.Asked if the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time, police said that will be known once the probe is over.
