Odisha horror: Woman raped twice in a day, dies after being thrown from 4th floor; 2 arrested, including her boyfriend

KENDRAPADA: A 23-year-old woman’s boyfriend was among two persons held for allegedly raping her and then throwing her from the fourth floor of a house in Jagatsinghpur district, early on Monday.The boyfriend is aged 31 while the other accused, a resident of Dhanbad in Jharkhand, who works in a private company in Paradip, is 24 years old, Jagatsinghpur SP Ankit Kumar Verma said on Friday.

According to the police, on Sunday the woman accompanied her boyfriend to a temple at Tirtol where they were supposed to get married. But the boyfriend allegedly betrayed her. Taking advantage of the isolated location, he apparently assaulted her and abandoned her at a bus stand before fleeing.Towards the evening, the Jharkhand resident, who was allegedly in an inebriated state, offered the woman a lift on his motorcycle. Trusting him, the woman went with him. He allegedly took her to his rented house and raped her. When the woman threatened to lodge an FIR, the Jharkhand resident allegedly pushed her from the fourth floor, that resulted in fatal head injuries.The woman’s body was found on Monday morning. It bore multiple injury marks. A postmortem examination later confirmed sexual assault, police said.On Sunday night, her brother had filed a missing complaint. After learning about the recovery of an unidentified woman’s body, the family reached the spot and identified her.Police said the case was cracked with the help of CCTV footage showing the woman entering the building of the alleged killer on Sunday night. A motorcycle used by the Jharkhand resident and two mobile phones were seized.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
