A man in Etawah district allegedly married his minor sister-in-law before brutally murdering her with a brick

KANPUR: In a shocking incident in Etawah district, a man married his his minor sister-in-law before brutally murdering her with a brick late on Saturday night. After committing the crime, the accused went to the police station and surrendered to the police. The incident caused panic in the area.According to the police, the incident took place near Phoolan Devi Dadha Jain Dharamshala in Shahar Kotwali police station area. The accused, Vijay Shakya, who lives in the area, took his 17-year-old sister-in-law to a lane about 100 metres away from the house and brutally murdered her by crushing her with a brick. After the murder, he went straight to the Kotwali police station and surrendered to the police.It is reported that when the accused’s wife had gone to her maternal home on Holi, he took his wife’s cousin to Delhi. After the girl went missing, the family filed a missing person report at Saifai police station. While the police were investigating, the accused posted a wedding photograph with the girl on social media.The family members called them asking them to return. Late at night he returned to Etawah with the girl and murdered her. He then surrendered to the police. The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The accused’s wife told the investigators that they had been married for about six years and both work as labourers. They also have a five-year-old daughter. Inspector in-charge Kotwali Yashwant Singh said that the accused informed the police about the murder. “He was taken into custody. The case is being investigated,” he added.
