INDORE: A suspected case of murder followed by suicide surfaced in Pardeshipura locality on Tuesday morning after a husband and wife were found dead inside their home. The couple’s teenage sons had gone out to buy milk and when they returned, they found their parents dead in the house. Additional DCP Amrendra Singh said it is suspected that the man, who was reportedly struggling with financial stress and debt, may have killed his wife before dying by suicide. Police identified the deceased as Eknath Wagh, 43, and his wife Rohini, 38. No note indicating the reason behind the deaths was found at the scene. Singh said that the police were questioning neighbours and family members to find out the circumstances that led to the incident. Senior police officials and a forensic team inspected the house after the matter was reported. During investigation, police noticed broken bangles near Rohini’s body, suggesting a possible altercation before her death. According to police, Eknath had asked his sons Mohit, 17, and Mayank, 13, to bring milk from a nearby shop around 8 am. When the boys returned nearly 20 minutes later, they found their father hanging and mother lying dead in another room. Police also noted that a cloth was stuffed into Eknath’s mouth. Family members said that Eknath earlier worked as an auto mechanic but recently had shifted to trading in share market. The family were staying in a rented room in Pardeshipura area for around one-and-a-half years. His two brothers live separately, while his father resides in Ram Nagar. Relatives said that the family was under financial strain for some time. Eknath had earlier sold a house in Jeevan Ki Phel for Rs 9 lakh and another property in MR-10 area for Rs 6 lakh. Despite this, he continued to face debt. His elder brother Santosh told police that Eknath was under pressure due to loans. Police said that the house owner stays on ground floor, but no movement of outsiders was reported during the night. Investigators suspect Eknath may have stuffed cloth in his mouth to muffle any sound during the incident. The children told police that the family atmosphere appeared normal the previous night and they did not notice any argument between their parents.
