Infosys has sent an advisory to its employees informing them about changes to the food-court menu amid the LPG gas shortage in the country due to ongoing Israel, US and Iran war. Similarly, HCLTech has reportedly asked its employees in the Chennai office to work from home. The developments come as the supply of LPG cylinders has been affected in several parts of India following disruptions in global energy supply chains linked to the Middle East conflict. Reports suggest that companies are taking temporary steps to manage operations and employee services while the situation continues to impact fuel availability.

LPG shortage: Infosys sends advisory to staff

Infosys has issued advisories to its employees working in locations – Bengaluru, Pune and Chennai stating that the campus’ food court operations will be affected due to the LPG shortage. “As you may be aware, we are amid an impending situation regarding availability of commercial LPG. Owing to this, our food-court operations will be realigned effective March 12. Certain offerings will be limited, including withdrawal of live counter options, until further notice,” an advisory sent to the Bengaluru employees reads.Similarly, the IT giant has informed its staff at the Pune campus that some cooked food will be sourced from vendors’ external central kitchens, while alternative cooking methods using electrical appliances and biofuel are being stepped up to manage the disruption. The advisory further asks employees to avoid planning on-campus events that require internal catering.For Infosys staff working in Chennai, the advisory states that constraints in LPG supply have led to some food court items being temporarily unavailable or served in limited quantities. “A small adjustment at an individual level can collectively make a meaningful impact, and we truly appreciate your cooperation and understanding,” the advisory said. The company stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with LPG suppliers and food court operators.

HCLTech asks employees to work from home

Acccoridng to a Livemint report, HCLTech has advised its staff at the Chennai office to work from home on 12–13 March. Quoting an unnamed executive, the report says that several cafeteria vendors in the company’s Chennai campus were unable to operate due to the ongoing LPG crunch in the country.
