Delhi shocker: Gang lures man using dating app, robs him of Rs 7L; 5 held

NEW DELHI: A man was allegedly abducted, assaulted and robbed of around Rs 7 lakh after being lured through a dating app to meet a woman in southeast Delhi’s Nehru Place.Five people, including a woman, have been arrested.On Wednesday, the man approached police and reported that he had been contacted by a woman, whose profile name was “Sherry” on the dating app. She allegedly persuaded him to meet her at Nehru Place.When the man reached the location, he was confronted by three male associates of the woman, who allegedly assaulted him and forced him into a white car. Police said the victim was threatened and choked till he became unconscious.Under duress, he was allegedly forced to transfer approximately Rs 7 lakh through UPI transactions. After the ordeal, the men abandoned him in Nehru Place and fled.A case was registered at Kalkaji police station under BNS sections pertaining to robbery, abduction for ransom and common intention.Police analysed CCTV footage of the area and identified one of the vehicles used in the crime. The examination of the digital trail led to a mobile number, which, along with call records, intelligence inputs, automatic number plate recognition data and FASTag records, helped identify a second vehicle.One accused, a cab driver named Rishabh Raghav (25), was traced and caught. Later, his associates — Nabojit Dey (30), Sanjay alias Joey (28) and Harleen Kaur (20) — were arrested from Malviya Nagar. Nabojit is a gym and mixed martial arts trainer, Sanjay is studying veterinary science. Sahil Chauhan was also identified as part of the group and nabbed.
