'Will cut off legs': Iran warns aggressors; Russia's Chechen units ready if US launches ground war

Iran has issued a warning to any force attempting to invade its territory, declaring that its armed forces will “cut off the legs” of aggressors. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), told state media Press TV on Tuesday that Iran is ready to respond decisively to any attack.Israel seeks control of southern Lebanon through ‘buffer zone’ — Follow live updatesPress TV also cited reports that Russian Chechen units are ready to deploy to Iran if a US ground invasion occurs. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has indicated to aides that he may wind down military operations in Iran within four to six weeks, even if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, having achieved core objectives such as weakening Iran’s navy and missile capabilities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the campaign had reached “beyond the halfway point,” though he declined to give a timeline for its conclusion. The warning comes amid a series of strikes and counterstrikes across the Middle East. Iranian media reported damage to a desalination plant on Qeshm Island in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, while two Chinese container ships successfully transited the waterway following coordination with authorities. Explosions were also heard in Tehran, with temporary power outages in parts of the capital. US-Israeli air strikes reportedly hit several Iranian military sites, including damage to the Grand Husseinya, a Shia religious hall, where parts of the dome and minarets were damaged. The conflict has spilled into neighbouring states. In southern Dubai, falling debris from intercepted missiles injured four people, while a Kuwaiti tanker caught fire in Dubai Port, with no casualties reported. Saudi authorities confirmed two injuries after a drone interception in Al-Kharj province, near the Prince Sultan air base. Israel’s emergency services evacuated eight people with minor injuries after munitions fragments fell near Tel Aviv following Iranian missile alerts, and Israeli forces reported four soldiers killed in southern Lebanon during clashes with Iran-backed Hezbollah. In Iraq, an explosion near Erbil airport, which hosts US military advisers, was reported, and airstrikes targeted two Popular Mobilisation Forces bases in Babil and Anbar provinces without casualties.Amid the intensifying conflict, Iran’s Parliament approved the Strait of Hormuz Management Plan, imposing tolls on passing vessels, banning American and Israeli ships, and strengthening security arrangements in cooperation with Oman. Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the US of secretly plotting a ground invasion and warned Gulf countries hosting American forces that Tehran would punish any regional partners involved.
