CHENNAI: A 21-year-old college student, Moshik Shanmugasundaram from Sivaganga, was stabbed to death in a restobar in Puducherry. The incident occurred on Saturday night when Moshik, along with his friends from a private college in Chennai, travelled to Puducherry to celebrate the birthday of his friend Shajan from Melur in Madurai district. They were asked to leave the restobar by the staff as the closing time neared. But the youth refused and continued their revelry. Restobar owner Rajkumar intervened and requested them to leave, leading to a heated argument. As workers attempted to remove the students, the inebriated youngsters attacked them, police said. “Bar worker Ashokraj from Muthialpet in Puducherry took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Moshik and Shajan,” police said. Periyakadai police sent both students to a govt hospital in Kadhirkamam, where Moshik was declared brought dead. Shajan was under intensive care treatment, police said. Police have arrested eight workers including Ashokraj and Rajkumar. The college students have also been detained for inquiry.
