When the winners of the 71st National Film Awards were announced, the limelight instantly turned to Shah Rukh Khan, who finally bagged his first-ever National Award in 33 years. The ceremony has been scheduled for September 23, 2025, at 4 pm at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will personally hand over the honours, celebrating the best of Indian cinema from the year 2023. For fans eager to witness history unfold, the event will be streamed live on the official DD News YouTube channel, with coverage starting at 3 pm to capture the red-carpet moments before the awards are presented.This year’s winners reflect reflect the sheer variety we have in Hindi cinema. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ’12th Fail’ took home the top honour of Best Feature Film, while the quirky satire ‘Kathal – A Jackfruit Mystery’ was named Best Hindi Film. The Best Actor prize will be shared between Shah Rukh Khan (Jawan) and Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), while Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for her moving portrayal in ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’.Several other films also made their mark. Sam Bahadur, headlined by Vicky Kaushal, earned recognition across categories like Best Makeup, Best Costume, and Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social, and Environmental Values.
