Rajasthan horror: Newborn found with mouth glued, buried alive under stones in forest; mother, grandfather held

BHILWARA: Police Friday arrested an unmarried woman and her father for trying to conceal an illegal birth by burying her 20-day-old newborn under stones and sealing his mouth with glue in Bijolia forest area in Bhilwara district.The baby is currently receiving treatment in the NICU ward of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara where his condition has shown improvement. Dr Arun Gaur, principal medical officer of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, said that the baby is under medical supervision and is showing signs of recovery. The incident occurred Tuesday evening when a shepherd discovered the abandoned infant among rocks and immediately alerted the police, administrative officials, and local residents. Bhilwara police responded promptly, rescuing the baby and admitting him to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for treatment. Mandalgarh police registered a case against the unknown mother and initiated an investigation. Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav addressed the press, stating, “We received information about a 20-day-old infant found abandoned in the forest, buried under stones with glue in his mouth. The police rescued the baby and admitted him to the NICU ward of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara.” He said Mandalgarh police registered a case under Section 93 BNS and began examining nearby CCTV footage and collecting information about deliveries in the past 20 days. Upon investigation, the mother and her father confessed to abandoning the newborn under stones to hide the illegal birth. Mandalgarh police subsequently arrested a 22-year-old woman and her father from the Bhainsrorgarh police station area in Chittorgarh district.
