Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has sent an internal memo to the company’s staff stating that the chip maker will continue to sponsor H-1B visas and cover all associated costs. The development comes following President Donald Trump’s executive order imposing $100,000 annual fees on H-1B visas. In the memo, Huang writes that “Immigration is at the heart of the American dream” and “as one of many immigrants” himself, “H-1 B visas provide a vital pathway for exceptional talent to contribute to America’s growth and innovation.”“Legal immigration remains essential to ensuring the U.S. continues to lead in technology and ideas,” the Taiwan-born executive continues, adding “At Nvidia, we built our company with extraordinary people from around the world, and we will continue to sponsor H-1B applicants and cover all associated fees.”

Speaking on the “BG2 Pod” podcast published last month, Jensen Huang described the policy changes as “a great start” that addresses illegal immigration and visa system abuse. However, he cautioned that the steep fee “probably sets the bar a little too high” and could make foreign students uncomfortable about pursuing opportunities in America.He emphasised that talent inflow serves as a key performance indicator for the country’s future success. “Smart people’s desire to come to America and smart students’ desire to stay, those are what I would call KPIs,” Huang said on the podcast.
